Testing, testing...is this thing on?
My lovely daughter was married in May 2011 to a wonderful guy. He's in the Army, so now they live in Colorado. Our oldest son, Nick, graduated high school in June of 2011. My son, Tanner, will be turning 16 on June 6th this year...I just can not believe how fast time has flown by! I've been hospitalized twice with one surgery within the last year. I am still working on my health issues. Good news for me is...I think, for the most part, that I have my anxiety/panic attacks under control... for the most part. Oh, lastly, we bought a house and close in March of this year.
I'm still creating digital scrapbooking goodies and when I lose that mojo, I play in my craft room. I began to really miss the textile part of crafting. My problem is now what do I do with all of those crafty things (mostly pendants) that I've made? Well, I had started a little shop on ArtFire a while back, but life got in the way, so that went by the wayside. I am still debating whether or not to do that again. I might just post them here on my blog to sell, now that Blogger has gone and changed things up on me! Oh how I love *hate* change! I guess I will just ponder that idea for a bit while I try to figure out if that is even possible LOL! Anyone know? Any suggestions?
Ok, I'm off to go play in PhotoShop...I'm thinking it's time for a new header! It seems that since Blogger has changed so must I! Thank you for your continued support! Until next time...Happy Scrappin'!

It's the Weekend, Yea!!!! plus a FREEBIE for YOU!

Ahhhhhh, the weekend is here! Finally! It just seemed to be a long week for me!
To start my weekend off, this morning, bright and early at 8am, I had to take my son's hamster, Chip, into the vet to have it’s teeth trimmed! Yes, I said to have it's teeth trimmed! LOL I guess it is quite common but I just had no idea! $79 later, Chip is a happy camper! We were told that we'd have to keep an eye on his teeth from now on and bring him in regularly to have his teeth trimmed back... thank goodness; it will only be $20 since Chip has now become an 'established patient!' LOL (It cracks me up that I am actually writing about this!) The vet said it is very common for any kind of rodent to have this issue with their teeth. If the teeth don't line up correctly, then they won't naturally wear themselves down, hence the vet visit! LOL Yea! I get to look frward to Hamster dental bills...Oh joy! LOL
Ok, now that that is taken care of, scroll down to grab your freebie! :)

I can't wait to show you my newest kit... it hits the SBE store shelves tomorrow morning!!!

Renewing myself & a Freebie for YOU!
I was reading one of our Royal Muses weight loss journey blogs, Weight for the Laugh, then went and read the blog that inspired her, Wii to a New Me. Well that did it for me! I have a Wii and the Wii Fit.
On Monday, February 22nd, I started by cutting way, way, way back on my coffee intake and I'm not talking about just a little bit of coffee either. I could easily drink coffee from the moment that I get up in the morning to the moments just before I go to bed. I'm also not talking about a regular cup of java either! I'm talking about those fancy, schmancy coffees....
I'm not a big junk food eater so that isn't a big deal for me. I think that I just don’t eat well enough and or I eat when I am bored. I am not a breakfast person! I just don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning either. So I started to have a Fiber One bar or a piece of fruit such as a banana, with my one-cup-of-coffee for breakfast. I can take them both with me out the door on my way to work!
Another bad thing that I have done is not only skipping breakfast, but I skipped lunch for a number of years, and then only ate at dinner. By then I was really hungry! That is not good for you and it will cause you to gain weight! (Well, crap, I wish I had known that sooner!) Since the panic attacks and agoraphobia started about 2 years ago, if I went out anywhere, I went through drive through fast food, so that I didn’t have to leave my vehicle. If I didn’t go out and about, I ordered in.
I also started to document the foods that I eat because it makes me more accountable. I am not really cutting anything out but only making sure that I am modifying the amount of calories. I am adding in more fresh fruits and veggies and of course now that I don’t have a huge coffee in my hand at all times, I am increasing my water intake!
The biggest thing I need to work on is movement!
In the two weeks that I have been making this lifestyle modification and movements adjustment, I am finding that I am feeling better, seem to have more energy and as of today I have lost 4 pounds! Just that little 4 pounds has me even more motivated!
I can’t wait to see what happens when I do try!
Oh and one last comment or two.
Thank you all! We can do this!
Well, if you have read this far, you sure do deserve a gift!

New Releases - 7/13/09 & a FREEBIE for YOU!
I have had good days and a few not so good days with the panic attacks. I haven’t been able to notice if they are getting better or worse. Eric tells me the truth, so when I think that they seem to be less; he lets me know that they haven't! LOL But he does so ever so gently, most of the time! LOL I really hate it when he has to tell me "Go out to the truck now!" It really ticks me off at the time because I always seem to think that I just must be embarrassing him but once I get outside into the cool air, I realize why he sent me out. His normal response once he gets out to the truck, because 8 out of 10 times this happens while we are out shopping, he will apologize and say something like "I thought you were either going to either hyperventilate or pass out or vomit." He will usually add some kind of smart-alecky comment to it like "and you don't want the firemen to see that, now do you?" or "Mom always said to wear clean underwear in case of emergency! Not sure if firemen check for that?! You ARE wear clean underwear?" See, he teases me about firemen because for as long as I can remember, I've had a "thing" about/for firemen, especially our Vancouver Fire Department! OH-MY-GOODNESS, not one ugly or mean one in the bunch! I swear! I absolutely admire a brave man that can get dirty and sweaty and be that good looking and nice to boot while doing it! LOL Soooo, that is why Eric teases me; it makes me laugh too!
How about taking a peek at my two new kits that have

Happy Birthday Gammer - we miss you dearly!
Monday, January 5, 2009
Thank you for your kindness, a bit of history and a bit of success!
Sooooo, let me step back to the beginning when this all began or at least when I think this all began; the end of the summer of 2007. My doctor said that this all can be brought on when a lot of things seem to pile up on you all at once (stress wise) or like in a string of events that are very stressful. Well 2007, a lot of things did happen, I dealt my very first death of a family member, my Gammer (my grandmother), my job is always extremely stressful, I had a TMJ flair up that was so bad my jaw locked up which hadn’t happened before, one of my very near and dear clients that I worked with passed away after a long battle of trying to get better, Eric’s oldest son, Nick informed us that he wanted to come live with us here in Washington and not live with his mother and brother anymore in California… there were many other events and moments that happened too but I am not going to list them all. But basically it was as if I were a dam and there was just no holding back or suppressing that very high level of stress for that long any further and so I burst.
So when these “attacks” started, I honestly thought that it was hot flashes and that I might be hitting early menopause… now in 2007 I turned 37 and yes I know that is a bit young for it but it runs in our family so it wouldn’t be uncommon for me to think that. Besides, I had been having random, short, little mini hot flashes since I was 30 or so I thought, but nothing like the hot flashes I was having now! It was a big joke when I was 30 but it isn’t funny anymore! LOL The heat is extremely intense from the inside out, but not necessarily from a particular starting point. There have been a few times that the hot flashes were so hot, that it hurt! One of these happened while I was conducting a staff training meeting at work! Thank goodness it was all women there that day! LOL I tend to get red in the face, neck and ears and now most of the time, just drip sweat! (YUK! I hate to sweat!)
I didn’t notice it but others around me, like Eric, who is soooo very patient, noticed that I wasn’t going out and about like I regularly do. I pulled away from going on our “Midnight Shopping Trips” or going to get my hair cut or have my nails done. I would put off going to the grocery store and I am one that loves to grocery shop. I preferred (and still do LOL) it very quiet when I am at home and cherish Fridays, when I have the day off and the kids were in school and I could sit at the pc and not have any noise except for the dogs. No TV, no radio, no phone ringing! Ahhhh that’s wonderful! There were (and still are) a lot of times that I felt like I was electric or vibrating with energy but felt exhausted. That’s the only way I can describe it, it was like a sensory overload. There were times when my mouth didn’t quite make the connection to my brain and I seem to pause as if I totally forgot what I was talking about but I knew what I wanted to say, it just wasn’t happening when I wanted it to happen. I also started having trouble sleeping and began waking up several times during the night along with night sweats. YUK again! I was also extremely irritable and it seemed that the smallest of things would just set me off.
Well to try to make a very long story short, I had a male doctor and just didn’t feel that he was listening to me. He actually made me quite angry and frustrated and I actually thought that I might be going crazy! So during the summer of 2008, I finally got rid of him and got a new doctor and she is wonderful! My very first visit with her, she spent over an hour listening and talking with me. We were there until after the clinic closed even. She told me what she thought and of course I didn’t like what she said but she reassured me that I wasn’t crazy and that panic attacks are actually quite common. I’ll be honest, that last part about being common, I thought she was yanking my chain there just to make me feel better, which it did but …….. but I do know better now! LOL She did start me on a low dose medication, because I would prefer to try something more natural instead of synthetic drugs, but they did seem to help. I have had to have the medication increased now twice because the panic attacks have increased with severity and the last few that I have had, they affected me physically.
On Sunday, December 28th, I wanted to try to go shopping and buy some new jeans, socks and unmentionables, which were a gift from Eric for Christmas. We drove over to Kohl’s, and of course the weekend after the holiday is a busy weekend…. What was I thinking?!? Obviously I wasn’t! LOL A lot of things flashed through my head as we pulled into the parking lot…. Wow a lot of people here, how long are the checkout lines, how noisy is it in there and Oh crap, I can’t pick out underwear in front of my 16 year old step son, Nick! (ROFLMBO the last one still gets me!) But I went in anyways. We walked over to the undies section and I told Eric that I’d rather just get jeans, so I jetted over to the jeans department, went back and forth about size…. I took 5 pair into the dressing room try on. (I began to notice that I was getting very hot, starting to sweat and I also noticed my breathing was getting heavier.) Well I was dreaming about the size that I chose so I had to go back and got one size larger (dang it!) That is when I really noticed that I was sweating and my breathing got worse. I tried on the jeans, kept telling myself that I was almost done and that I had almost accomplished what I had planned to do and I would be going home soon. I know that a few people noticed that I was having issues and that really bothered me. Part of me didn’t want to come out of the dressing room because of that but the other part of me wanted to run screaming like a banshee to go home. When I came out of the dressing room, Nick and Eric both looked at me and asked if I was ok. I told them yes, but it is obviously not something that you can hide very well when you face is all red and you are drenched in sweat! Nick kept asking if I was ok, I kept telling him yes, I can do this. Eric took me to the farthest checkout stand since it had the fewest people in line. The longer we stood there, the worse I got I guess! Eric made me go out to the truck and wait while he paid for my jeans, I told him no, that I could do this and he just gave me that look, that I must go now. I was livid and crushed! I thought that I must have been embarrassing him for him to want me to actually leave the store! He had never done that before! So I left the store and went and pouted in the truck. When got into the truck he apologized and said that the only reason he wanted me to leave is because I was breathing so heavily, basically starting to hyperventilate, that he didn’t know if I was going to vomit or pass out. In a way that made me feel better but then I got really embarrassed and just wanted to go home.
Now I am happy to report that over this last weekend, on Sunday, January 4th, I went shopping with Eric for groceries and a new purse and I did ok! Then afterwards, I went to Kaiser to pick up medications for Tanner and me. His weren’t ready but I did ok again! When I got home, I asked Eric if I did ok at the store and he smiled and said yes! Again today, I went back to Kaiser, but this time by myself because it was after work, I did so-so honestly. I started to notice that I was getting wound up but luckily the meds were ready and I was only in there for about 20 minutes or so. When Eric got home from work I told him I did ok but fessed up that it was actually only so-so. He grinned.
So right now I am pretty pleased. I didn’t think that I would ever share these kinds of details about myself but I felt relieved after my last post about the panic attacks and such and it does feel a bit therapeutic to write about it and get it off of my chest so to speak. It also makes one feel better knowing that there are many other people out there in this world that are dealing with some of the very same issues that I am. I only wish that sometimes instead of a subscription of issues….. one or two at a time would be great! ROFL
The good thing is that I am at least starting to notice the signals only sometimes I don't notice them in time and other times, I just dont listen!
Well I have rambled on long enough and now I need to get to bed so that I can get up early and go to work in the morning! Check back tomorrow for a freebie or two!!!

Happy New Year & a Freebie for YOU!
Well the end of 2008 is here and a new year is about to begin! I am looking forward to new things to come in 2009 and hope you are too!
My Mom, who has traced her Indian heritage, become an official member of an Indian Clan and has been given her Indian name, sent an email tonight that really spoke to me and I want to share it with all of you! But before I do that, I want to preface this with a bit of background information about me. I will try to make it short because honestly, I never thought that I would share information this personal about myself.
About a year and a half ago (the summer of 2007), I started to have panic attacks. I didn’t realize that this is what was happening to me until this last summer (2008) when I was finally diagnosed with Panic/Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I have a great doctor and she has spent a lot of time with me to find out what was going on. She said recently that I am over analyzing it and that I need to “stop trying to figure out the whys and the triggers because she believes that there aren’t any. It just happens.” I do attempt to go out and about and when I do, I prefer to have someone with me just incase, but Eric is always my first choice, whether it is to a place like Target or even a grocery store. I am able to go to and from work usually without issue, but on occasion have had a panic attack or two while at work. Within the last few months or so, not only have the number of panic attacks increased for me but the intensity has become so overwhelming that I become physically ill usually while the attack is happening and it seems to drain me of all of my energy afterwards. (Even as I type this, I am beginning to feel an attack coming on. I am dripping with sweat, my breathing has increased, my stomach hurts, and my hands are shaky and tingling.)
So when I read the email tonight, I felt that it was speaking to me and thought to myself, that I know that I am not the only person in this world that is dealing with something like this. The quote that she sent to me gave me hope and I am printing it out and I am going to hang it o my bathroom mirror so that I see it every day as a reminder. Be sure to read that last line, it’s a doozy!
Below is a quote from book: A Cherokee Feast of Days, Daily Meditations by Joyce Sequichie Hifler: It expresses my feelings/prayers on this day looking forward to 2009:
If, like a Cherokee warrior, I can look at the New Year as an opportunity to stand on new ground, then strength and courage are on my side.
If I have waited a long time for everything to be perfect—and there have been moments, brief as they were, that filled my expectations—then I can face the challenges.
I will remember that things do work out, bodies do heal, relationships mend—not because I said it, but because I believe it. But it is time to make things right, to stay on the path.
As water runs fresh and free from the woodland spring, so new life and meaning will bubble up from my own inner source.
I will be still and steady, because there is nothing to be gained by showing fear in chaotic world.
I can turn from ignorance and prejudice toward a light that never goes out.
“The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do.” ~ Sequichie ComingDeer
Something to think about as we all move into this New Year, 2009! I will overcome this fear! I have to! I really want to be able to go grocery shopping or go out and about without having tag-a-longs all of the time. When my daughter graduates high school in 2010, I want to be able to attend the ceremony! There are a lot of things that I am missing out on right now, that I really want to be doing and just haven’t been able to. So instead of making new year’s resolutions, which I normally don’t make anyways because I would usually break them when I did, I will just set a small goal to attempt to go out and about, to a place other than my job, once a week. Now honestly, that scares me just thinking about it and if that just ends up being too much, then I will attempt it every other week and just try to build up from there. I used to be on the go constantly and I was living! I want to get back to really living outside of the walls of this house again!

Why women should vote & Today in History
I love history! See what you get when I am unable to walk around much.... I planted myself in front of the pc! LOL
Why woman should vote! How quickly we forget!
This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.

Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote. The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote.

And by the end of the night, they were barely alive. Forty prison guards wielding clubs and with their warden's blessing went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of 'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'
* Lucy Burns *

They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air.
* Dora Lewis *
They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack. Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging, beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.
Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917, when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right to vote. For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.
* Alice Paul *
When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press. http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/suffrage/nwp/prisoners.pdf
So, refresh my memory. Some women won't vote this year because why, exactly? We have carpool duties? We have to get to work? Our vote doesn't matter? It's raining?
Have you seen HBO's new movie 'Iron Jawed Angels.' It is a graphic depiction of the battle these women waged so that I could pull the curtain at the polling booth and have my say. One thought kept coming back to me as I watched that movie, 'What would those women think of the way I use, or don't use, my right to vote? All of us take it for granted now, not just younger women, but those of us who did seek to learn.'
HBO released the movie on video and DVD. All history, social studies and government teachers should include the movie in their curriculum. We are not voting in the numbers that we should be, and I think a little shock therapy is in order.
It is jarring to watch Woodrow Wilson and his cronies try to persuade a psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could be permanently institutionalized. And it is inspiring to watch the doctor refuse. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave. That didn't make her crazy.
The doctor admonished the men: 'Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity.'
Please, if you are so inclined, pass this on to all the women you know. Encourage them to vote!We need to get out and vote and use this right that was fought so hard for by these very courageous women. Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party - remember to vote!
History is being made.

Speaking of History... How about a tid bit of Today in History?
November 01, 1765
Britain’s Stamp Act Is the Colonies’ Riot Act
The Stamp Act goes into effect in the American Colonies November 1, 1765. Passed in March by Britain to tax documents, almanacs, newspapers, cards and dice in order to pay debts from the French and Indian War, the act incenses Colonists, who protest the "taxation without representation" by petitioning, boycotting and even stringing up the odd tax agent. Parliament rescinds the act in 1766, but can’t retract the spirit of revolution it unleashes.

The Bee Gees and CPR!
Every year for the last 13 years, I go to our local American Red Cross Chapter for recertification in CRP and the First Aid I go for every other year. Mainly, I do this as part of a requirement for my job as the Program Manager for a company that provides 24 hour support to adults with developmental disabilities but I would do this even if it weren’t for my job. I have had to use this valuable information on more than a few occasions and not just at work but in my regular everyday life, from a person choking, to having seizures to passing out cold and dropping to the floor, etc. Luckily, so far (knock on wood) I have not had to perform CPR on anyone but I would be able to do so if it was needed and I know that I would not hesitate to help anyone in need.
Along time ago, I was always afraid that I would not be able to keep it together well enough or long enough in an emergency situation; well I didn’t give myself enough credit, as most people don’t. I’m a take charge kind of person and usually react pretty calmly and then lose it after it’s all over. Most people are afraid to get involved in an emergency situation for a large variety of reasons but CPR can and does save lives. Most of the time people will not respond because they either have not had the training or they are afraid. Over the years I have seen the CPR techniques change to make it simpler for people to remember how to do it.
For the last few CPR classes that I have taken, the American Red Cross is teaching that you administer CPR to the beat of “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees. Now you know that once you get that song in your head, you won’t be able to get it out! LOL Pretty much everyone knows the song too so it is a great way to remember the rhythm for CPR which is 100 beats per minute. The number of compressions has changed to 30 compressions for every rescue breath that you give. Let me tell you, it does get tiring very quickly but it can make the difference for someone either living or dying. In fact, it triples a person’s chances of survival! So I encourage you all to take a CRP/First Aid class! It is so worth it because you just never know where or when you will use it, or on who you will need to use it on. Your own child, your Mother, Father, best friend or spouse?
This was on ABC's Good Morning America. Check out the American Red Cross , sign up for a class, donate, give bloood or even volunteer!
Sing it, you know that you want to!
Have a safe weekend!!!

Questions about freebies
** If I host it on a file sharing site such as 4shared, I will post the download link and the password below the preview. Once you click on the download link, you will need to copy & paste or type in the password just as you see it on my blog. I will usually let the freebies stay up until they are no longer wanted any more, which is at least 30 days if it is hosted on 4shared, so be sure to check out all of my freebies by clicking on the Quick Glance: Freebie link in the side bar.
** Now, if I have my freebie hosted in the 3Scrapateers Freebie Gallery, I will post the link to go directly to the freebie in the 3S freebie gallery. You will need to register as a member at 3Scrapateers, if you aren’t already. Registering is quick, free and easy to do! Then you must be logged into 3Scrapateers to be able to see the freebie gallery. It is a very friendly atmosphere there, so jump on over there and join us for a challenge or a chat or even games! Freebies that are posted at 3S are there permanently, so you will always be able to download them as long as the site is there!
I hope that helps! :)
** While I am thinking about it, which do you prefer, 4shared or 3S freebie gallery?
** What are your thoughts? Let me know!!!
Wandering Around Scrapland - 9/4/08
First up, if you haven’t noticed in my side bar, there are links of all kinds. I would like for you to notice “Custom Blog Headers & Design” section.
I personally create headers and such for blogs but I am not a techy person so assisting with installing them isn't my thing. If you would like for me to create a header and labels for you, contact me! Since all of my products are S4H/S4O Friendly, you are more than welcome to use my designs to create custom blog headers/designs for personal use (non-commercial) blogs as long as the images are flattened and not in their original form.
Check out these blog wear designers:
If you are looking to make your blog super cute, then check out these ladies! They all design some fantastic blogs so stop by their blogs and tell them that I sent ya!! Ummm, by the way, Shilo is only 17! Yep, you read that right! You must check out her most adorable blog! She is one talented gal! Pretty impressive!
Next on my wonderings, I found this site that had some fun scrapbook sayings! Check them out!
I grew up when Star Wars came out and remember vividly, pretending to be Princess Leia with a group of little friends. I still love Yoda and how he talks! I found a few fun sayings that are perfect for every day! Try them out on a layout or two of yours! If you do, link me up, I’d love to show your layout off on my blog!!!
Try not. Do or do not, there is no try. -- Yoda
Always in motion is the future. -- Yoda
Continuing on my way, I found several spots for FREEBIE hunters!!!!! Notice, again I the side bar and scroll down a bit, you will see “Digital Scrapbooking Freebies” I will be happily listing the blinkies/links of fabulous freebie sites for you. So if you are ever in need of some freebie digi-scraps, you’ll have links to run to! Don’t forget, I love to give out freebies, so be sure to bookmark or subscribe to my blog so that you will be notified of when they get posted!!!
